M50 questions (quick ones, I promise)

    I have a Getrag 240, NV M50 and M20 Flywheel...

what clutch setup would work? I want to keep the lightweight m20 flywheel, I'm thinking a sachs clutch would do the trick, but I'm not sure which one I should get... It's not going to be turbo'd until at least next year, so OEM replacement would be good, but I'm not sure if I should get the one for the M20 or the M50? Will it even fit in the G240?

Also, as far as I can tell I'll need some parts from the Euro 323i? Throw-out bearing? anything else?

    I also need an e36 6-cyl 5spd driveshaft if I use the M50 / G240... is that right?

Get the E30 M20B25 clutch kit. Stock will be plenty fine for your M50.

You can also use an E28 533i throwout bearing.

Thx for the quick response, I'll have to look into the E28 533i T/O bearing...

If I understand this correctly, this setup is ideal:

      M42 Clutch Slave Cylinder (???)
      M20 Pressure Plate
      M20 Clutch Disc
      E28 533i throw-out bearing
      M50 Pilot Bearing
      M50 Flywheel

Does this look right? I'm still not sure if I have to buy a master cylinder as well... I'm trying to re-use as much as possible from my 318is...

the e30 m20b25 clutch kit looks like it includes a throw-out bearing, I think it might be easier to just buy the pressure plate and clutch disc by themselves since I'm buying the 533i one seperately

You need to use the pilot bearing that matches the input shaft on the 240 which i believe is the stock m42 one.

from what I've been reading, I thought I was supposed to use the one that matches the engine?

328ijunkie is right, pilot bearing matches trans.

As long as the inside diameter of the bearing matches the outside diameter of the trans input shaft you'll be alright.

^This. The hole size in the crank is basically standard across all BMW I6's at the very least but the input shaft size changes between trans'.
