    wiring harness for m52

Hi I just got a 98 323i 2.5L m52. The ecu, instrument cluster and stuff I can locate. But I'm not able to track down an engine wiring harness for it.
Is there a different harness that I can use for it? If so what models and years can I go with? Any help or suggestions will be awesome and greatly appreciated.

Staying OBD2 or converting it to OBD1? That is the first decision you need to make. If you stay OBD2 you are going to need the EWS components to come from the same car, well most of them at least.

Or I can flash the OBD2 ECU to turn EWS off.

Well that sounds like a way better idea.

Which one do you think will be easier? Cus all I have is the engine, the only thing I got electric for the engine is, injectors, spark plug coil packs, and the throttle body.

Ews is bmw's version of a electronic anti theft system consisting of a chipped key and a reciever. Basically, your car won't start without the matching chipped key and dme/ews components. Just bypass it with an obd1 conversion or get your dme reflashed to delete ews.

Ah ok. Well that would explain why some of the ecu's I was looking at had a matching key for it. That does explain alot. Ok well if I did decide to do obd1 with it. (which is probably going to be easiest) how would I go about that?

Ok, well I just found the whole obd1 conversion kit. I'm definitely going to cam the beast, what would my cheapest way to do that? I read some where I can swap in cams from a different engine but don't remember which one. The other question is, the kit said I would have to get a chip for it. Is there a specific chip that I have to get? Where would be the best place to get said chip?

Sweet thanks a ton Matt. Well I did more research on the whole turbo thing, lot of people said that ebay turbos are not worth the money. A good turbo setup is going to alot more $$$$ than I want to spend. I looked into turning it into a stroker engine and that is going to be more machine work than I want to have to pay for. I'm just going to do the obd1 swap and do either s5o or 52 cams. I know either set will fit without having to mod anything, but does any one have an idea on which one would get me the most hp out of that cam swap?
