    S50 loses power

    Tonight I was driving to get some Mexican food when my car lost power for a split second, weird I said to myself. Didn't come back until I was heading back to my buddies house when it completely lost power for a good 3-5 seconds, I had the accelerator pressed the whole time it lost power. I pulled over and waited for the cars behind me to pass. Once they passed I put it in gear and drove straight to his house and turned her off.

    I'm at his house now, I'm just seeing if I can get any input on what's going before I head out again, my only guess is the fuel pump? Please help thanks.

      Shit, it's pouring rain down here and he doesn't have a garage or anything for me to check it out. Did it do the same thing on your car? Lose power then come back on?

            The motor would still run but the gas pedal was useless. Dash lights stayed on, everything else was fine. I'd just be cruising along going 40mph and all the sudden I hear the motor slow itself down, it was very strange. On my way home last night it did again but only for split seconds than it came back on again.

                  Well I have had the car with this motor for over a month, the past week it's been raining.

                      is it like a "cutting out" power loss "sputtering" power loss or "lunging" power loss?

                      cutting out could= vac leak (LARGE) coils, or fuel related problem
                      sputtering could= ^^ those plus shitty ground
                      lunging= knock sensors.

                        It could be something easy like bad gas. ^^ any idiot lights like oil pressure or volt gauge jumping. Good luck

                          First, I'd take out the plugs and look at them. Only takes a few minutes. Check for any oil or moisture in the boots.

                            Plus 1 on this! Happened to me in my old e46. When it hesitates for a bit, does your engine sound like a subaru also?

                              Haha not really, it doesn't really hesistate the motor just starts slowing down. The only "hesitating" it does is when the gas is coming back on, but the car doesn't lurch or jerk itself but maybe that's because I was just cruising in 5th at 40mph.

                              Thanks for all your answers, I'll take a look at everything tomorrow morning when its bright out.
