E30 trans, S50 motor?

I have a 325is, will my trans works with the S50 motor? I heard if I use this combo the shifter wont line up to fit where it normally would go. Also is this $850 a reasonable price for a 96 M3 trans, driveshaft, and hydralic cyclinder?

e30 tranny will work fine, not sure about the e36 tranny price though
