    m50 into 1984 318i

hi i have a 1984 318i and i want to do a m50 swap into it, i wanted to know what i can keep in my 318i and what i will need to swap an m50 in.

i know i need an 88+ 325i radiator, e36 engine mount arms, e28 535i/m5 mounts, different brake booster, red label dme, and the wiring harness, is there anything else i am missing? or will need?

i know i need a tranny, driveshaft, diff, but i will worry about what combo i will go with a bit later, i just want to focus on being able to swap an m50 in and gettin it to run/start.

    thanks for your help.

wiring adapter which can be found on this forum.

Buy an engine out of a E36 sedan, then buy the oil pan. This is what I have done and the driveshaft works, transmission mount and transmission works and all you'll have to do is swap the pan and bolt on the e28 mounts. Engine in.

For the booster I used the lucas booster, I believe out of a 7-series???

e34 master cylinder, I think.. lol bought it as a package at a really good price. The only problem with this is you have to "T" your front brakes because it is a 2 line MC instead of the stock 3 line.

Other then that.....you're good. I probably missed but that is the majority of what you'll need.

I just did this swap. The subframes are completely different from the 325i/e. Your going to need to swapout the whole front subframe otherwise the m50 will not sit properly as there are no mounting points for the engine mounts to shit.

OK, I was worried I'd have to get a new subframe. My M50 project is an 84 318i, too.
