anyone experiencing a RPM needle jump after car is turned off?

I have a S52 obd1 and car runs fine, but when i turned the car off, the rpm needle goes to zero and then jumps back to 1000. it stays there.
Anyone know what's going on or experiencing this?

Every e30 I've owned (7) has done this as I turn the key off. Including the S50 swapped car.

My E30 318iS needle bounces up a little when I turn off to around 500rpm then goes back down, not often actually but enough to notice.
