    Gauge cluster

    Hello,

I have a 91 318is.. My tachometer was always broken since I bought the car. Now I'm going m52.. I want to buy a new cluster since mine is broke.

    do I need a 6 cyl cluster or a 4 cyl one?

    Does it matter?

    Thanks

If your gonna buy a cluster you should buy a 325I or IS cluster with the 7k tach since it will already have the right coding plug.

Yeah but keep the 318's fuel gauge. It won't read correctly with a 6 cylinder gauge for some reason.

Yeah I really don't know why but I swapped in a 6 cyl cluster in my 318is and the gauge would start at 1/2 way and never go lower. If the tank was empty, the gauge would read half way. No idea why. Now that I think about it, I don't even care why that happened.
