    coolant temperature sensor

So im trying to figure out exactly if you do need to change the coolant temp sensor. The engine is a obd1 m50. There are to sensors that are near the intake, the front one is a blue one and the back one is a black one. Do I need to replace one of these with a brown one or are they fine? Thanks

Yes you need the brown e30 temp sensor or your gauge won't read accurate.

Damn dude, do you search for anything? All of the last few threads you made have been worthless.
If you would just read the sticky at the top of the 24v swap section you would find all the info you need.

700 page thread littered with bullshit. I read that entire thread about 2 years and 300 pages ago and it had all the info for my first swap. Now it's just a mass of unorganized shit.

How about taking the up off your ass approach and making a 24V FAQ and not chastise the FNG trying to get his car going?

I have searched and haven't had any luck on my ? posted in the 24V thread.

On an OBD2 harness, the temp sensor ( just one with 4 wires) needs to have a square plug wired up for the M20 temp sensor. What wire goes to it ? I plan on shipping my harness of to the guy that wires on the c101 in place of the x20. and I know he does the oil level sensor maybe he will wire in the plug I need IDK need some input.

R3v's not the only forum with info. E30tech has a massive thread with all kinds of info. There is a lot of info on the wiki site, ts all there. People are just to fuckin lazy to search for the info and would rather start a thread and ask the same shit that was already asked the page before or the page before. Its not hard. If people need to post stupid shit like this then they shouldn't be doing a swap.

I hear ya it is pretty basic swapper knowledge the black sensor is for the DME's temp reading and the blue is the E36 gauge reading, on OBD1 ALL that is needed is switch out the blue for a brown M20 sensor and done.

do you by chance have the part number or is it just like a generic brown sensor from BMW?
