    CF airbox and booster clearance

Thinking about putting in an CF airbox on my S50B32.

So I wonder if anyone have pictures of E30/ E30M3 with airbox and what booster setup is used?

GeoMetro setup is not an option what so ever. I'm running GolfMK1 7" booster with 23mm master cyl now, and pedal it to hard.
Was hoping I could use E34M5/E30 325Ix booster with CF aibox.

The IX booster is fairly large compared to other options. How about a porsche 944 booster?

944 and Golf MK1 is pretty much the same...

Audi one sounds like some thing I need to check out!

I believe he is using a B5 A4 1.8t booster and MC. The mounting style is different, as it's 2 bolt. I guess there are also two sizes of MC, 23.8 mm and 25.4 mm, depending on whether or not there is stability control (bigger) or not (smaller).

Norway is LHD, you know, it's the right side, which is the left side. But some think the left side is the wrong side, because they drive on the right side, which I think is the wrong side :giggle:

Ok, found some on Ebay, they almost cost nothing compared to the 2002 Tii booster for example. You don't happen to know the diameter of the booster?

I don't think there will be a CF box yet, but I'm sick of the Golf MK1 booster. So I need better brake servo. Probably need to weld a bit on the intake plenum with the A4 B5 booster?

Sounds like you might need to look into a hydroboost setup then. Modifying the CF plenum isn't really an option, and if you aren't satisfied with your current level of assist having less room to work with than you currently do really limits your options.

The hydraulic assist setup should work well, as I believe the CF airbox further encroaches on the available brake booster/master cylinder width, but you gain a bit in available length, since you no longer have to deal with the inlet elbow in the center of the plenum.

As I said, there will not be CF airbox yet.

I have a hydroboost setup from E28, and I have decided that it is not an option. There is just to much tubes, hoses, tanks, and balls.

I have welded the stock intake plenum for the Golf MK1 booster, so if the Audi one is dual membrane and about the same diameter it will be a better solution.

With a hydroboost modification is needed with a CF airbox, since the master cylinder crash with it. But molding carbon fibre is just the same as fiberglass, so IF I buy a CF box, that small mod will be more easy than welding that damn aluminium.

Ah in that case, that should be the ticket if the dual membrane isn't too long for the aluminum plenum.

The welding is easy to me, but I have done just enough fiberglass work to know I shouldn't be doing fiberglass work. :D

I tried the Ix dual membrane booster with the stock plenum when I swapped, and that did not work for me. Had to cut very much away.

So if the Audi booster is around 7" diameter on the biggest sector, it will not be much cutting to get the rest of the booster in place. The master cylinder is very short, so it might clear the rubber hose as well.

Offcourse I have no pictures of how the welding of the stock intake turned out with the GolfMK1.

E34M5 3.6l booster and master cylinder. I did not use it.

Bought the Audi A4 booster, it is like 1cm less in diameter than the Ix one.... So no use for that as well!

I'm thinking about cutting the intake plenum anyway to make room for it, but I'm worried about cylinder nr 6. Any tips?

Someone know the diameter of the 2002 Tii dual membrane booster?
