    coolant temperature sensor to big?

So i took out my sensor from the m20 and compared it to the m50 and its bigger. Anyone know why? This is the closest to brown colored one i could find on the engine near the intake. m20 left m50 right

You pull the wrong sensor out of the m50? You want the one furthest from the front of the motor.

Re-tap the brown sensor to the correct thread size, and you're good to go. That's what I did and it works great.

drill and tap existing hole for larger thread size ? not modify sensor itself noobbb here

That would be why i pulled the one closest cause i thought it was the blue one that came out. The other one is black.

It is easier to turn down the sensor a bit and re-thread it to the correct size with a die than to drill out your cylinder head, drilling the cylinder head also introduces swarf into the coolant passages which can't e a good thing.

Be careful not to over torque the sensor after re-threading it, you neck it down a fair bit so it definitely isn't as strong as it would have been.
