M88 vs. S50

I have a S50B32 euro in my car now, but was just offered to make a change in a M88/3. Or S38B35 as it may be named in US. Comes form a E24 M635Csi.

So, the S50B32 has 321hp and is more up to date. M88 has 286hp and is old as a cave man. This one has dual timing chain.

How much modification is needed to swap M88 into E30?

I would imagine it's very similar to the s38 swap. Personally the dual-vanos and higher hp of the s50b32 win out for me.

+1 I think it would be a bit of a downgrade.

Less power under the curve

M88 is an icon, and it has a better sound than the new age S50 :P

But, I don't think I will downgrade to the M88 though. S50 is a good engine!
