Anyone know the dimension for a 24v - 260 trans brace?

    Hey guys,

Starting my swap next Friday and will be fabing my own 260 trans brace.

Does anyone know of a AutoCAD file or PDF with the dimensions needed for the brace?

    Thanks in advance!

if you're pressed on making your own, just get everything into the car and measure it out yourself

If I were to make my own, I would use the stock brace and cut it up and re-weld.

You could do it with the trans in the car, make it fit flawless with whatever mounts you wanted.

This. The way the mounts should be made.

Not true, there are a lot of people that don't have the tools or skills to make their own anyway and that is primarily who buys them now. Frankly if you have a welder and can make bird shit you can make a transmission brace, it is not exactly rocket science and the measurements are not THAT important to get right, you can shim it a few MM with no ill effects.

Essentially all you need to do is flatten the one side and raise the other side ~20mm. It's a very quick and simple modification to a stock brace and you don't need a CAD drawing to do it.

Just like wiring harnesses, all the info is freely available for the simple modification, but people still buy them.

Exactly. Just because there's someone out there making them doesn't mean people can't make their own. Besides, he wasn't asking for the dimensions of anyone's specific product, just asking for dimensions.

                Truth. ^^
I had enough material cut for 50 pieces and the shop made it out of 3/8 instead of 3/16 and there is no way of bending the material with out a press. Which I dont have..
Not only that. two of the holes are cut in the wrong place. so when I got the first one made up the studs would be on the outside edge of the hole. which me no likey. Another thing is with the material being 3/8 it doesnt leave much room for the bolts to fit. Maybe 3-4 turns and I dont like that either.
The shop says its my fault they made it out of 3/8. but its clear on the paper I gave them that it said 3/16. So Im fighting with them for a refund or to cut me new material which they are not having.
So I chopped the shit out of one and this is what I got.

Im taking this to a new shop for them to measure and do what they got to do to get me some material to make a few up. I hope to have this all taken care of next week.
Im dealing with a new shop and they have been very kind to me. So we will see.

                    NO. Now STFU already.

Heres the one I made in '03 or '04 out of a stock brace:

Not much in the way of welding skills needed really.

ugly but effective! as mentioned above, go buy the mounts you want(i prefer e21), use a 4" angle grinder with a thin cutoff wheel to flatten the passenger side of the bracket. install engine and trans. install bracket under trans, measure the distance between your mount and the bracket on driver side. add material to increase the height on that side. bam! done!
