So my car has been running for four days...

Getting on the freeway, I redline first, shift to second(hard) and BANG! The inner c.v. joint for the passenger side axle disintegrates! It is the original, but damn, I haven't heard of anyone else doing this.
    Specs on the car are:
    93 M50TU
    S52 cams
    TMS chip
    OBX header :|
    Getrag 250
    UUC flywheel/E34 M5 clutch
    195/60R14 Falken ziex 512's

Nothing crazy, I thought it was going to be the driveshaft for sure due to having to slide it apart more than before at the splines. Anyone have any thoughts?

I checked realoem.com and it seems all manual E's use a halshaft with a part # ending in 893 while manual I's and M3's all use a 901 part number halfshaft. Does anyone know if the I halshafts are designed to be stronger components?

I would figure it would be. Are you changing both of them or just replacing the broken one?

I'm going to replace both, probably with new ones from BMW if I can get a great deal, we'll see. BMW parts have a two year warranty so if this happens again I'll be covered. I plan on putting the i shafts to the test in a couple of weeks here www.driftday.com maybe with a 3.73 LSD intead of my 2.93 w. LSD

Well, now you have heard of at least one other person doing this. Except I blew the outer CV in spectacular fashion last fall.
          Im now E30less.

Are you still running "e" halfshafts or change over to the "i" parts?
