    S50 with S52 Pistons

    I was in the middle of changing a head gasket on my recently purchased s50 and I noticed some cylinder wall scratches. They are too deep to be honed so now I need to bore out the block and fit bigger pistons. So Im wondering if I can purchase s52 pistons and have them fitted into my s50 block? Ive heard that the wristpin height on the s52 piston is slightly higher and will cause me to loose compression. Is this true? Does anyone have first hand experience and can guide me in the right direction?

    Also, If the s52 pistons dont work, can anyone tell me where to get a set of oversized pistons with factory specs? Or if anyone has a s50 short block for sale?

    Just get custom pistons if you can budget it. I would.

      ^Thats what Im leaning towards. I really wanted to have the engine swapped in by the end of spring but now Im thinking that Ill just prolong the project and build it for boost.

        S50 = 86 mm bore?
        S52 = 86.4 mm bore

        It won't work, the compression would be too low.

            Piston will sit 5mm bellow the deck, giving 8:1(or lower) compression ratio, maybe good for turbo aplication.

              Thats what I was afraid of. Im prolly going to just dish out the extra cash a get a new set but Im not definite on whether Im going to build it for FI or just keep it NA. Any experience with Maxsil? Theyre going for about 860 right now with rings. Anyone have a better source?

                For 860 its not worth it getting maxsil pistons. Forged JE pistons are only 980 from top end performance and you can get any compression ratio you want.
