Doing swap tonight 1 quick question?

I recently bought a car that had an m50 swap done. i bought it for the motor basically as it is rusted out pretty bad and in poor shape overall. So my plan is tonight to start the motor swap into my clean 87 vert. Now here is where I am confused. My vert has a limited slip and is a original 5spd but there is no s tag however when I spin the wheels and hold one axle it shows its a limited slip. The swap car I bought has an m50 mated up to an
e36 getrag 250 going to a 4.10 lsd. the gearing is horrible because the tranny is 1.1 and on top of that the rear is the 4.10. I have a 3.73 out of an 87 is that I know works good. but if the convertible has a lower ratio then I would want to keep it that way as i want a cruiser not a track car. Any help as to what I should do will be appreciated. I have been very busy with my 2 jobs and have kinda rushed into this. I have a getrag 260 which might work better I have searched but reaally not that much info. thanks going to garage now will have my email on my phone...

In short form want to know what tranny and diff will work best on my 87 vert for a cruiser I really don't care about acceleration but want to be able to cruise at 80 under 3k... my 86 eta can why can't this m50????? thanks again.

use the gerage 260 from an e30, and you are gonig to need a custom tranny brace.

And a 373LSD is your best option...

my m42 w/ a 410 does 3.7k on freeway doing 75-80mph

also your 86 eta likely has a 293 diff, keeping r3v waaay low

You are not going to find a diff low enough to get you under 3k at 80mph with the direct drive 250. You need a 260 and a 2.93.

3.73 has you at 3500rpm
3.46 has you at 3250
3.25 has you at 3050
2.93 puts you at 2750 just like an eta.

The E36 came with a 2.93 but also a larger rolling diameter. A 1:1 fifth gear mated to a 2.93 is almost identical to a .81 fifth gear (like a G260) with a 3.73.

well we pulled both subframes motors etc... here is what got done...

The tranny next to it is a 260 just for comparison purposes.
is this a 250? the only mark on it is 225? anyway we are swapping over subframe and rack and gonna bolt it all up tomorrow... should all be in car and all major componets bolted up. then sunday I can do all the minor stuff.
I guess I can always swap the diff out of my eta and put it on with the m50 and 250 combo? Idk I can always pull the tranny and swap to a zf or getrag 260 also... I'm fucking confused...

so 2.93 is the way to go? m50 225 250 tranny and 2.93?? I'm hooking up the one that was in my vert for the time being. gonna see how it feels.
