    Can i get an opinon on this?

    so my buddy has a 318is with an m50 swap, s50 cams, and it used to have a 413 red label dme with a tms tune chip. found out that the guy who sold it to him took out the dme.

    Now we found another red label 413 but has NO tms chip in it. put some gas in it and it started, but dies shortly after that everytime. Also when it finally did start it was idling really really rough and made some awful noises sounded like it was coming from the engine or maybe backfiring.

    Any ideas on why that could be??

    I would assume because its running off of the stock tune that was never made for s50 cams.

        wouldnt it still run with a rough idle but i dont think it should die

              why wouldnt it die? Its a hotter cam than the engines not tuned for so the fuel and air ratio is all off as well as timing.

              Its like trying to eat a sandwich and your mouth being closed as you push it towards your face. You have the wrong timing and need to get your shit inline.

                      This is my car but i just fixed the reason why it was idling really shitty was because the plug in hose on the intake manifold was unplugged.Plugged it back it and now it idles fine. But when i go to rev it just the slightest it revs up to 2500 rpms and then slowly back down to 1000 rpms. any ideas why?

                        Any noise when it only gets to 2500rpm? or it just falls to a grand?

                          No noise when it gets to 2500 but just slowly just drops to 1000. also when i start up the car it revs up to 3000 then dies down to 1000

                            You guys realize the motor will still run fine without a tune and those cams right? Something else is up. It spitting any CEL's? Vac Leaks?

                              Does the car also have a 3.5" euro HFM? If so, I don't think that it will run off a stock red label without a chip.
