S52 Sat for 3 Years Not Prepped for Storage

I'm trying to source a S52 and one that I found was pulled 3 years ago and was not prepped for storage in any way. It has been sitting in the guy's garage in Florida. Not in a climate controlled environment. The motor has 5X,XXX miles on it when it was pulled. The guy used it at the track but said it never burned oil and he maintained it meticulously (I take words like this with a grain of salt but the guy did sound genuine.) He's unable to provide compression numbers or leak down.

What are your thoughts about this situation? What are the questions you would ask the seller? Would you consider it or pass on it? Price is pretty good for a lower mile motor ~$2500.

Marvel Mystery Oil in all the cylinders to start. I think that price is a bit high for a pulled, sat engine. If it was pulled from a running car, I'd pay that price for 5X,XXX miles.

It's not this one, is it?

So you wouldn't be concerned with it? Just throw some Marvel in there? What do you think a fair price would be for it?

      No, it's not that one.

Tell him not to touch it till you get a hold of it. Pull the plugs and dump atf (or marvel) in the cylinders and rotate the motor around so it can sink into the cyl walls and rings. Pull the pan, flip the motor upside down and do the same, pour it in the underside of the pistons. Pull the chain/socket off the oil pump and stick the pickup in a bucket of oil. Use a powerdrill on the oil pump to prime the motor. Suck as much oil as you can through the pump and dont turn the motor at all till you do this. The rings will have flash rusted to the cyl walls amongst other things and if you turn it theyll chew up the cyl walls. (if you can even turn it).

At the end of the day, a motor thats been sitting will be fine after you spend some time with it.
