    3" exhaust is built...

finally got some work done on the car. started way to late in the winter (offroading to much in the Samurai) have been rushing to get it done and on the road.... here is the old post with all the ideas, http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...ighlight=borla

anyway i ended up making my own stainless flanges (304 ss flat bar) bought an old school tig and started to learn... welded them on my ebay headers. then built from there back, used two borlas all stanless 304 mufflers, pipe, even the o2 bungs and hangers, wont have to deal with rust for awhile....

one borla XR-1 in middle and borla turbo muffler at the back no cat no resinator.

I will get a vid as soon as its nice out. I'm very happy with it, not as loud as it was before and sounds way better.

    couple pics...

    more pics soon...

and thanks for all the ideas and input guys!

Not bad at all. I've seen guys with "training" have more bird shit in their SS welds than that. Awesome way to teach yourself. Are you moving stock hangers and raising it up a bit or ?

I want 3" exhaust... man. That looks pretty damn good for teaching yourself, bud. What was the cost in materials if you don't mind me asking?

This dude's exhaust cost a decent amount just in mufflers. The Borla Turbo and ProXS muffler pair probably approaches $300.

You'll need around six 45 degree bends in the system to tuck it up tight around the subframe, and have an offset that hugs the transmission up to a merge collector. If you're really handy with a chopsaw / bandsaw and can get accurate miters, you can save a lot of money by getting a 180 degree bend and a 90 degree bend. So, pricing here depends on what material you choose for the pipework and your skill as a fabricator.

If you use aluminized steel, the pipes won't cost much at all. If you want 304 stainless, the piping will start to add up. Sometimes you can get "B" quality bends, or a bucketful of bends from a header manufacturer who rejected bends for one reason or another. You can save a bunch of money this way.

Really, is this a serious question.
