    No Reverse..

So i took the car for a ride last night. I backed it out of my garage and took off to where i had to go. I went to back up into a parking spot and had no reverse. Its a m50b25 vanos with a e36 tranny. It was the second time taking it out. The reverse worked fine when i backed out of my garage but didnt want to after. The shifter has alot of play in it. I have a e36 linkage and shifter. Is this the correct one or should I use the e30 one? I took the linkage out tonight and tried turning the input shaft to go into reverse but i cant tell if im not turning it enough or my reverse went in the tranny. HELP ME!!!

ahhh cool. I just picked up a zf and thought it was odd that "neutral" was far off to the right, over near 5th gear. It engages freely into all gears so maybe a spring is stuck.
