    Clutch ?'s, not your usual

Hello all, I'm a tech at a local indy shop, so I did a clutch/flywheel job on a 330ci. I kept the flywheel from that job to use on my m50 swap.

I have an f1 racing 328 clutch kit, and it bolted right onto the 330 flywheel. Apparently the self adjusting clutch flywheel's have a different backspacing because with the trans bolted up there is no free play in the TOB arm. So looks like I need another flywheel.

Question is, the 330 clutch is supposed to be 240mm, whereas the 328 one is supposed to be 228. The f1 racing flywheel says to use the m3 clutch kit(240mm).

Based on that info I would think the clutch I have now is a 240mm clutch and should bolt to an m3 flywheel just fine, am I missing something?

Maybe you need to try a different throw out bearing. If the back spacing has been changed then youll either need a longer or shorter tob. Maybe try the tob that matches the flywheel?

Any pics of the self adjusting clutch flywheel? A stock e36 m3 dual mass flywheel is pretty thick itself to begin with so I wonder how much more the 330ci ones are. As for the 240mm clutches being interchangeable or not I remember reading awhile back on e46fanatics that it was possible.

Even the SAC setups use the same FW's as E36's. The FW isnt your problem.

The part number is different, and I was told by someone they werent the same although I don't see how they could be much diff. Im going to try to call UUC and talk with them, they seem to have done a lot of research.
