No different than someone snagging one for $20 at Pull-a-Part and flogging it for $250 :D

      Item condition:New
      Part Brand:BMW OEM

about $10 less than the BMW dealer asked for mine a few months back, I didn't pay it, but that's around where retail is for the part new. Hence why used junkyard pans still sell for a premium on ebay.

Well, the ones at the pick and pull require around 1.5-2 hours to drop, and it's not the safest thing in the world to do. There's a lot of stuff to unbolt to get it to come free.

if you know someone at the parts counter then you can get them under 300 new.

Got put in the work to get it cheap! I know there is one sitting in a Dallas pick and pull right now waiting for you to spend half a day there with it.

Or you could just get the engine out of an E34 and have the pan already installed. That's what I wanted to do but the person selling the car never got back to me.

or an M52 like I think OP is goin with.

Fyi when I go get one of theese, I just pull the whole engine and trans straight up in the air and electric impact all the little bolts off.Takes about 2-3 hours if you are alone, with a BMW buddy that knows whats up you can collab and do it in 1.

If you get a chance to look through any American muscle car parts catalog you'll hate life.

They have STEAL oil pans for $40 or something. It's disgusting what we pay for parts.

It's all relative though - the prices are worth what we are willing to pay. I paid $265 from Aardvarc Racing in CA for a pan, pick up, dipstick, and gasket. I realize I could have spent the 2-4 hours crawling around in the dirt here in AZ pulling it off. I'm certainly capable of it, but it was SOO much easier to just hit "buy it now" and go on with my work day..... recouping my cost.
