    Ecross' M50 Swap

After spending hours and hours of reading on forums about 24v swaps, I knew it was something I had to do. This February, I purchased my m50 from Pick N Pull in Kelowna, B.C. Engine has somewhere around 2xx,xxx kms, but has a couple of goodies hiding inside. Timing Chain, sprockets etc look brand spankin new! This was the deciding factor whether it was worth ripping out or not. For two months the engine sat in my garage in Kelowna while I finished Uni in Squamish. I returned to Kelowna last week and begun working on the m50. Ripped everything off of it to give it a good cleaning and paint. As of last night I ripped out the waterpump to replace it, to discover it was brand new as well. Score! Now for the plan of attack:

    Type of Motor: m50b25tu
Transmission your using: Getrag 250 or 260 Leaning towards 250
Driveshaft: Depends on tranny, most likely 318i shaft from getrag 250
Exhaust: Ebay headers, Y-Pipe, 2.5 straight pipe into magnaflow something? Suggestions?
Clutch/Flywheel m20 flywheel, starter. Oem Sachs clutch
What type of LSD & Ratio: 3.73 LSD

Plenty more pictures of the engine covered in grime, but who wants to see those anyways ;)

Now to guilt all you readers and potential buyers. This swap will go much slower if the m42 does not sell. Wink wink nudge nudge.

I will be documenting the swap over the summer and will hopefully finish mid August. Keep an eye out!

Awesome! I am prepairing to do the same thing soon. I found a M50b25 out of a 92 525i touring. I will be watching your progress!
