Anyone have a part number for the big wire that goes from the alternator to starter?

    I need one.

Danny, are you talking the big red cable that goes to the alternator, the starter and the battery terminal. I think the part number for the M20 is: 12 42 1 711 258 after going through my email. I got mine from Blunt for about 50 bucks. I didn't want to butcher my m42 harness.

I think I have a spare. I have to look for it though.

No just the one that goes from the alternator to the starter, unless they are the same thing.

No I have that one. It's too long I guess. Maybe I can use the one off my m20. Or make my own.

Don't use them - those are from the E36 harness and you do not need them. Use the E30 wires......

And to answer your question, one runs to the fuse box for power, and the other runs to the starter.

                    This

And also if youre in a bind you can just make your own cable. Its 8 or 6 gauge wire IIRC.
