    Temp sender woes...

    Long story short....

-car over heated from improper bleeding
    -Bad thermostat
-Temp sender plastic got soft and deformed

I replaced it with a late m20 sender, now it just sits in the blue?

I re-bleed it and its not overheating, not sure why gauge and new sender is not working.

    PS: m50NV in a 318is

    Temp sensor plug/wires got burnt?

Mine has stayed at just above the blue since I swapped my motor. I really don't like it because it makes me think the ECU is constantly running in "warm up" mode which means it's running rich at all times.

I checked the wire to the sensor my completing the circuit between the two pins on the plug and watching the needle on the cluster go all the way to red.

I bought a new M20 temp sender, but just haven't taken the time to pull my intake off to swap it out yet. Hope that's my issue....

            Change you heater valve?

Or bad thermostat or water pump, but I assume you already changed those. So might be the heater valve.

Sounds like you have your hoses backward, or maybe that coolant safety valve thing you were so gung-ho on is bad.

Ill recheck hoses tomorrow, but that safety valve is so heater core does not explode on my leg...

The ecu runs off the other sensor in the block that came with it. The one you have to switch out is just for the gauge cluster.

??? How is it easier? You still have to get an open end wrench in there to unbolt the old sender?

Check the two coolant hoses going into the fire wall. The spider hose should be on top, and the hose coming from the back of the head on bottom.
