How can you get the check engine light to turn off as if no problems?

Because of the infamous issue with my car, the only way to run it successfully is with the vanos turned disconnected. Because of that, I always have a check engine light and NEED to smog my car. Does anyone have any ideas how I can have the check engine light turn off when the car starts? I was thinking of jumping a wire from the oil light so it turns off just for inspection, but rewire it after smog. Is there any easier way?

I would say to take the gauge cluster out and pull the bulb if its accessible, if not, pull the face of and put black electrical tape on the backside of the check engine light.

Removing it won't help DUH....it needs to come ON and OFF if the smog person knows what he is doing.

depending on how you did your C101, i would just pull the pin out of the harness side of the c101 for the CEL, then shove some wire from the oil pressure light into that pin and into the pin for the c101 and tape off the real CEL pin. Pull the boot back over it and noone is the wiser.
