    Engine mounts help

    I have a quick question!
    Im confused.

Im doing the s50 swap in my car and im using the e36 engine arms.
Question is which are the correct mounts i need? 87 e28 M5 or and e28/e24 mounts?

Ive read that M5 are stronger and dont need a spacer or shim? as with the regular e28 i would need a spacer or shim? Is this correct?

Also when using the m5 mounts what trans mounts would i need?

If it has been answered before sorry, theres just to manny options and combinations to do this.... I get confused!
    Thanks

        What transmission?

I have the ZF tranny and I used the stock E30 brace and E36/E46 tranny bushings.

you need a modded 260 trans brace from like mike, and 260 shift linkage, and a bent selector rod...

I however used a 240 tranny, so i used my stock brace, and 320 e30 linkage and arm

Just say NO to green mounts. I've broke two sets. I just bought the AKG mounts.

You're one of the few people I've ever heard of destroying those mounts. Blunt had them in his swap car, as well as many others without issue.

Well i was just sharing what has happened to me. I'm done with the green mounts and hockey puck style mounts. I have two swap cars and my DD has been swapped for about 5 years now. My DD is the one that i have broke the mounts 4 times now. I just got my set of AKG swap mounts in the mail today. I will install them on friday after work and never have to worry again.

I have has a few autocross's and one track day on the green mounts and maybe they will be fine for street driving.

I know that Louis broke a set, My room mates swap car also had broke the green mounts. And i've melted the IE yellow poly mounts.

                  Just a FYI.

I also threw away my e28 green mounts and went with AKG on my S52. When I pulled the green one's off the car, my passenger side mount was starting to rip and was about half the height of the driver's side mount - after only about a year and 8k miles of use.

When I first installed the S52, I added about 1/8" worth of shims on the motor mounts so the headers would clear the subframe, and I had to pretty much double that before I threw away the green mounts due to the passenger side one collapsing. Hopefully the AKG mounts will hold up better.

I'm going to install a shield and air duct to the passenger mount because I think many mount problems are because its only a couple inches away from the aftermarket headers.

I had the same issue with my mounts in roughly the same amount of time. I'm using e32 740i mounts now (same height, minor mods to the mounts required for use).
