    Motor mount issue

In putting the S54 into my E30 M3, I've hit a bit of a snag. I am using the E36 M3 arms and AKG swap mounts. The passenger side is on correctly, but I can't seem to get the driver's side on. Here is a pic...

The engine is at a 30-45 degree angle in the bay, so it is hard to munipulate it into position. Any thoughts on what seems to be the problem?

This happened on my S50 with the AKG mounts. The passenger side was fine, but the driver's was just like yours.

My problem ended up being the oil pan sitting on the rack because I didn't space it right.

      Rotate the motor mount 180.

        /\ this

it looks backwards, the stud goes into the slot, not the round holes

        Please leave feedback below, thanks

From how it is in the pic, the short side or convex side is towards the fender, while the bigger side or concave side is towards the motor. Is that wrong then? The pic is from the front of the car.

Here is a pic of what the engine is going in...

yeah, looks like you just need to rotate it and move the stud to the slot instead of the the hole

I'm using the same guy in Europe that Fred is using on here for his swap.

I have the Turner Motorsports subframe reinforcement pieces welded in and they only have a small hole to get access to the bottom of the motor mount. It just so happens I only have access to the hole in the subframe and not the slot. I rotated the mounts and everything seemed to line up. The mount was touching the outside edge of the subframe, but the inside edge was about 1/4" off still. Could that just be from not tightening the mount down all the way and the full weight of the motor and tranny not being on it?

The mount looks like it is in the correct position...is the subframe modified heavily?

The center section of the subframe has been modified, but the outside pieces where it mounts to the car is standard. The angle is the same as stock.

I just installed my AKG swap mounts and had the same gap. When I tightened the bolts down the mounts went flush.

I had to connect everything on one side and then only put the two lower bolts on the motor mount arm on the other so it hung down. Once I got the stud from the mount in the arm and the subframe, I was able to get it all tightened down. This all seemed easy this time, but it was after trying to get the engine in the car twice and then finally taking the subframe and everything completely out of the car. Now I get to put it back together.
