Leaking from somewhere..but I'm on the roads

Check it out, I'm leaking from what appears to be the water pump? It doesn't seem to be from the thermostat housing. I'm down the shore with my friends for a week. How difficult is it to replace the water pump gasket? I'm gonna silicon it since that's all I got

sorry man... thats a crap video. I can probably give you some insight though. I once had a mysterious leak and it wasnt the water pump, it wasnt the thermostat housing, and I was so confused. After a lot of searching, I found out that it was the timing cover gasket. The leak looked like it came between the block and the head. I thought it was the head gasket, so me and a buddy took the head off, replaced the HG and timing cover gasket, and no more leak! Check that.

I can't really give you any advice but I can tell you it is easy as pie to remove the WP on a 24V motor.

Video was like watching blair witch project, but from what i could tell the leak looked like it was more on the front of the timing case rather than the sides. Probably your water pump o-ring.

Haha sorry guys about the video, it's honestly hard to get a decent shot with my phone, now imagine how much I can see with my own eyes haha.

I have no access to the internets so I can't download an E36 Bentley, I'm guessing just loosen the alternator belt and unbolt the WP? I'm sure I can get an O-Ring at any hardware store

how the heck did you take a video in a vertical rectangle?

What's the WP weep hole? Can it be checked while installed?

Looks like the WP weep hole to me from that last video.

Its a little hole under the WP between the gasket and the front of the WP. Means your WP gasket is leaking by.

Not trying argue.....but the weep hole leaking means your water pump itself is leaking from the shaft and seals....NOT the o-ring gasket.
Weep holes are designed to let out any water that seeps past the seals on the shaft, but it obvioulsy shouldn't be much.
The actual water pump gasket shouldn't leak AT ALL.

I'm not saying I know whats leaking down there either way, but if it is coming from the weep hole, then you need a water pump, and not a seal.

24V M50, M3 cams, Turner Tune, full exhaust, ect....

Thanks, I should have clarified, yes you need the whole new WP not just the gasket (can you buy the gasket separately?). My car did the exact same thing after my sweap.

+1 get a new WP and gasket. and I would replace the thermostat and housing gasket while you are there.

It was seeping from the shaft bearing! I bought a new Waterpump. Check out this one, I can't believe this worked..the blades were sharp enough to cut easily through skin, the impeller wasn't even straight!
