    M42 Wiring harness To E34 M50 Harness

Hello all! I am new to the site and find it very informative. kudos to everybody!!

    I am currently swapping a M50 from a 95 525I into my 1991 318IS.
Are there any wiring differences I should be aware of when wiring the harnesses together. So far I have been using AKG motorsports wiring diagram. The M50 swap thread has been very informative. I did not find any light on this particular swap and was curious to see if anyone had any insight or ideas.

    Thank you!

AKG's diagrams are horrid. Nothing there is correct.

Buy one of Treehouse Racings WHAD's and be done with it.

I second Jordan. We used AKG's diagram just as a base, and the only wire that was right (as far as we could tell) is the starter wire. I'm flipping through the ETM and Bentley right now, making an accurate wiring chart.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

Let me take a look at the chart whenever you finish. I dont think mine is wired completely right.

            I'm also I am swapping a M50 from a 95 525I into my E30 ('85 320i). The differences I found between the E36 engine plug and the E34 engine plug:

            1. The oil level sensor goes to pins 1 and 2 instead of 10 and 16.
            2. The Oxigen sensor relay gets power from the main relay, not from pin 22.

The other wires seem to need to be connected to the same pins in the E36 and E34 engine plugs.

            Avner.
