M50NV bad idling gas mileage

When running normally, my OBC (i'm using the OBC as a loose guide) reads my MPG's just fine, but when I'm idling it significantly DROPS. I can even kind of smell the richness too. Could this be my TPS? Because I know when I got a CEL my TPS didn't read anything.

EDIT: I hope I don't have to replace my TPS, that shit is big bucks...

I assume that the car is not moving at idle, so its reasonable to assume that your getting pretty poor MPG when you are taking 0 / anything.

Haha this is true.



But in true E30 fashion, the problem seems to have fixed itself. 25.7mpg reads steady on the OBC..strange.

The OBC takes an average over time. The longer you go between resetting it or it resetting itself, the less it is impacted by momentary blips in consumption.
