Might have to drop the trans again... (throw out bearing?)

alright it looks like im in need of another throwout bearing. is there a better one i can go with other than a stock one?

    my setup is...
    euro S50B32 flywheel
and a stock E36 M3 clutch kit. should i just get another one and hope it quits making noise or is there better ones out?

Look at it this way... I seem to be constitutionally incapable of putting in the trans with the throwing bearing installed. I think I've had to re-drop various transmissions at least five times. You would think that I'd remember by now...

How many TO bearings have you chewed through? Unless your shifting technique is super harsh the TO bearing should last a really long time.

The noise you are hearing is it when you are pressing the clutch in or in neutral with the clutch released?

Bumping this thread. Recently got my S50 swap running, and as some noises quiet down, others become more evident. I noticed the same conditions for noise, though the noise is pretty faint unless my windows are down and the car is stopped. With the clutch pedal pushed, even slightly, I hear nothing. Neutral with the clutch released, I hear a rotational (?) noise that reminded me of this thread. I changed the pilot bearing before doing the swap. Also installed a new TOB onto a rebuilt ZF with new fork lever etc and a slightly-used (uh oh?) feramic DXD clutch and original flywheel which wasn't in bad shape. Is this noise anything to worry about or am I being paranoid.

Yep that is due to worn out layshaft bearings but will not affect drivability, and you really won't find a getrag 260 that does not do it unless you rebuild it yourself. My car has mega marbles when it's sitting in neutral with the clutch out, I've gotta press the clutch in when any fly-ass honeys be walkin' by.

There's no need to feel insecure about your layshaft.

ZF's do it too no biggy turn up your stereo. My getrag rattles like a mofo I've learned to live with it.
