Red label 413 chip

Noob again...For my S50 will any S50 chip work in this ecu or does it have to be S50 with red label 413 specific?

So, this is the set up I have, that the PO of my ECU put together.

Anyway after reading your answer I'm wondering,............ why?
From the reading I did before my swap it looked like the only ECU I could NOT use was the silver lable one. I have an M50, different that the TC I know, but I was just hoping someone with more knowledge could fill me in basicly cause I'm curious and want to know.......

The red label 413 and the 506 are the same DME, but the 506 comes with an S50 chip. In my experience, a chip for a silver label 413 does NOT work for a red label.

That said, if you already have a silver label 413, the easiest thing to do is buy an EWS delete chip.

Pre-EWS '95 M3s. IIRC, that was most of '94 production, but you'll want to look up the date cutoff.

The production of my S50 is 9/95. I bought the red Label 413 to delete Ews plus I did not get a DME with my engine and harness. I bought a chip on ebay for the s50 with 413 DME but when I put it in for the first start of my swap it was not sending anything to the injectors. I know this because I tested the injector and it had power to both wires on the injector. To spray the fuel one wire gets grounded by the chip and this was not hapenning. The guy has the correct chip I need so I have to return it. If this does not work I am not going to mess around and just buy a TRM chip. for now $80 < $250. I will spend the $250 when I do bigger injectors and MAF and lightened flywheel.

Many tuners have upgrade policies. You might want to ask TRM about theirs.

They have a set up for almost everything you can think of, already chipped and ready to buy. Mine says M3 cams right on it....its a red lable 413 and it runs my M50
