Noob again. So the s50 swap is complete but I need a cluster with the 6500 rpm redline for the s50. My e30 is a 1985 325e with a vdo cluster. Would a late model 325i vdo cluster be plug and play? or do I have to find an early model 318i vdo cluster?

The late model cluster will work just fine. I have a 91 318is cluster in my 87 325e m52 swapped car.
If you do have problems (or want to keep your current mileage) you can just swap the tachometers. -
Your gas gauge is going to be wrong. You need to put the early E gas gauge in the new cluster.Past Car : E30 S50 6 Speed 5 Lug 3.73
