    M coupe donor for E30 swap ?

I am hoping to do and engine and transmission swap into my 1988 325is.
    I know someone who has a wrecked 1999 M coupe .
I know the engine is the same s52 as the M3. Can anyone tell me if the transmission is the same? Also, is the differential the same (what gearing)? ie. can I swap everything ?
Lastly, I know the e36 suspension will bolt into the e30, but what about the suspension from the M coupe ?

    Thanks!

I just finished installing a 99 MZ3 engine/tranny into a e30. Pretty easy. Tranny will work fine, and bolt to stock points with stock shifter linkages/carrier etc.

Diff is likely going to be a 3.25 non lsd

Front suspension is basicly the same as a e36 M3.

Rear is basicly the same as a normal e30, but with much larger halfshafts, 5lug, larger wheel bearings and very nice brakes. It will all bolt right up, with some mild fab work to run new brake hardlines.

Why would BMW put an open diff into an M coupe?

Pretty much all the new BMW's have open diffs. They have ASC/DSC, and BMW thinks that is a replacement for LSD

            M Coupe swap

            Thanks Jordan,

That was VERY helpful, I may be asking you a LOT of questions in the future.
So I guess the bottom line is I should take basically the whole car ie. engine, trans, diff, front and rear suspension, and swap them all !

BTW what wheels are you using ? Are you using the MZ3 suspension or the E30's ?

MZ3 rear, and e30 M3 front with SBI spacers to run e36 M3 brakes.

Not sure what wheels yet, most likely 18x8.5 E46 M3 CSL reps.

                M Coupe Diff

                Jordan,
I've been doing some reading and everything I read says the 1999 M Coupe has a LSD diff AND traction control.

Is this right ? Or is it just the 1999-2000 that had LSD and after that they were open diffs?
