Pmd before seeing you got fan in, you dont have to remove the intake to change the blue or brown sensor

17-19 e30 tool in trunk kit fits under fine ;)

Love this car. Absolutely kills the mkv gti, it's even quite torquey with the 2.93 (and the gearing is just where I'd want it to be with the ZF). Now I just need to figure out why the fan stopped working... something must have come loose during shipping. Even the condenser fan doesn't come on with the snowflake button, although it does light up blue. Hmm...

I have the spal working good now but I still need the brown top connector hooked up. So I guess sunday I'll be pulling the intake manifold off again... So close to being able to cruise down to the beach can't wait.

Nice glad you got it sorted. I haven't really gotten on it yet, I'm picking the car up this evening with the exhaust completed so I'll know then and report back. Let me know how your temp gauge reads once you get it running. Mine is at 1/2 or slightly higher but after 50 miles it started to go up as the car was sitting. Going to try water wetter and hope that doesn't happen again.

The radiator on my touring is smaller than an m42 radiator... Car is stock
    and never had A/C.

My M20 with the regular fan clutch never overheats. The radiator might
be ticker but not by much...

I installed the m42 that I bought from you last weekend haven't turned it over yet but I think I'm gonna today. Did you move out west?

Wouldnt having a radiator thats bigger than an M42 be more efficent??
I'm actually jealous, i wanted the M42 rad cause of the side tank, but didnt get it cause I hear its not such a good idea for autoX.

The fitment is tight, but the waterpump protrusion (not sure what that thing is, or why it's threaded... I had a new WP and I actually left the plastic protective cap on it) clears just above and to the driver's side of the center (thickest) portion of the puller. Make sure the radiator is seated all the way down on its "feet." Also, I am not running the gasket thing.

Yes you need to find a slim fan but there are 16" fans that fit. Another option is to cut off the nub for the mechanical fan on the water pump. If you're not running A/C on the front side a pusher fan is a much smarter solution (and easier).
