Differences in M50NV MAF?

I got a bit of a surprise while hooking up my MAF last night. My MAF connector that I bought looks like this...


and my harness only accepts this type...(which I dont have)


So, from what I have researched, the top one is for vanos engines and the bottom is for non-vanos.

Soooo. what are my options?

Do I have to buy a NV MAF? If I do, what diameter is it 2.5, 2.75, or 3" (I already bought a 3" filter)

Can I get the V MAF to work with some rewire?

I was told the non vanos MAF suck(thats what i have) and are not compatible with the vanos MAF. Something to do with how the computer reads the signal of the MAF and not just the wiring. I hope someone has a better answer I will watch this thread.

you need a NV MAF for a NV engine. you need a vanos maf for a vanos engine.

Neither one is better than the other. They push different readings for values that i know of.

What diameter is the Nv maf? 3"?
