    S52 and M52 Guys - Chime in

So I'm swapping in an S52 this weekend and I'm curious about the whole coolant sender/temp switch ordeal.

The head that I have only has the main switch that has 4 pins and then the nipple for the coolant to circulate to the throttle body...

As you can see, the line is simply being redirected back into the spider hose. My question is, can I simply take out that nipple and screw in the temp sender in there instead? Would there be any harm in doing so?

The other option I see is the zionsville adapter thing...but they're out of stock. Does anyone else make a similar adapter?

I too am curious about this. Thinking of going s52 as I'm currently m52. I lucked out and got a 1996 m52 which still had the 3rd hole which made the coolant temp sensor much easier to do as all I had to do was screw it in.

You will either have to grind down the temp sender and rethread it or tap the head. I believe the stock sender is 14mm and the hole is m12x1.5.

I chose to modify the sender, only took 5 min to grind it down and run the die down it. Much safer in my opinion unless you already have the head off.

The sender that I have is already modified. Did you thread yours into the hole that I'm referencing? :giggle:

oh shit really? i pretty much deleted mine but i had the water recirculating as you can see from the pic.

              i bought this sender:

what did you use to block off that portion on the spider hose?

ANDDDD I pretty much answered my own question. BUT I feel like this is good for anyone else that may be going this route in the future.
