What's the deal with OBD1 vs. OBD2 TBs? How's everyone's throttle cable fitment?

I'm running an OBD1 TB and E34 throttle cable, and with it as loose as it needs to be for an appropriate idle the actual aluminum 90-bend at the TB is basically against the (E32/iX) brake booster. This is cocking the cable at maybe 15-20 degrees relative to its vector from attachment to actual throttle lever... if that makes sense. Is something wrong here? OBD2 TB have better fitment? I also have a funny idle condition where it will be too high at times (900ish) but returns to normal if I pull back on the pedal, as if it's sticking on the last 2-5%. The cable is new. Thoughts?

post the part number of your cable you have, both of these are e34 cables, but one is for a 24v and other is not.

I don't know which one I have (came with the motor I bought) but if I had to guess I'd say it's the late model. How are they different, can I identify without the PN?

Bump, I have a similar problem. Cable is on its longest setting and the throttle butterfly is around 99% closed, but doesn't quite close all the way.

I use an E34 cable with an OBD1 TB.
I shaved some of the meat from the rubber anchor grommet so that the threaded plastic sleeve of the cable has more penetration and allows for a little slack when the butterfly valve is at idle rest position.

You could also try bending the anchor bracket on the TB a little further away from the fire wall. I did not do this , as shaving the grommet was satisfactory for my use.

to the above point, I shaved some meat from the threaded portion of the cable adjuster, that way the adjuster itself can physically be threaded further on and give a bit of extra slack.
