    Puttting e34 M50 into 88 325i rhd

Taking the plunge an doing the swap. Wish me luck.

Did my research. It appears very straight forward:

    Use
    -e30 radiator
    -try to add electric fan
    -new air con hoses
    -e28 535 engine mounts
    -different brake booster (e21)
-use stock getrag 260 5 speed tranny and flywheel
    -use e34 throttle cable

    Areas I have question on:

-best way to address the modification to transmission bracket
-matching up wiring harness besides tree racing harness (too expensive at $399)

You'll need the e36 engine mounting arms as well.

    Wiring-

Tranny brace- I'm working on this. I'm waiting on my SDS EFI to get here, so in the mean time i'm going to put my old tranny back on and fab up a brace. I'll be making extras because it seems like lots of people need this. If you wanted me to, I could just trace the bracket i make and send you the paper as a template, or i can make one for you. its up to you.

-So i can't use the e34 mounting arms eh? Best place to find e36 mounting arms used?

Let me know the cost for you to fabricate the arm. If the tranny is tilted up 10 degrees does it have any bad effect on the driveshaft and rear end?

The tranny isn't tilted 'up', just rotated 10 degrees to the right due to the fact that the M50 sits at a 20 degree angle in the engine bay, as opposed to the M20's 10 degrees.

I've put well over 15k miles on mine and don't see any signs of abnormal wear in the driveline.

Brew, please tell me how your car drives, is it worth it? Is it super smooth or very powerful. Anything worth mentioning about your transplant?

My car drives great. The M50 is much smoother than the M20, and makes the car decently quick. I just RAPED an Altima 3.5SE on Friday night. I wouldn't say its "very powerful"- a chipped M50 is only 35-ish hp more than an stock M20, but it makes the car a little less boring on a day-to-day basis.
