So my car refuses to consistently start.. and when it does it wants to die when I rev it up. I have found that if I cup my hand over the maf to restrict some of the air flow it revs up perfectly, getting too much air? it will also idle perfectly after it has been cupped and rev'd but the idle before that seems to jump around a bit, and sometimes die. any ideas? I am thinking possibly tps?

its getting the right amount of air but it might be a lean mix. the way to solve that is to mess with the fuel system. Id focus on that. Highly doubt its tps. Do realize that the ecu determines how much fuel to inject and for how long from more then just the tps. tps, maf, ivc, cps, coolant sensors are the big ones. Also the title of this thread made me lol
