Hello guys , well am thinking to swap my motor since it is tired ..
i am thinking to have the M50B25
i have some questions about the swap
1- how hard it is , and what problems i will face ?
2- i want to buy the motor from a junk yard , so how i will know if the motor is in a good condition or no ?
3- how to know if it is vanos or non vanos
4- how to know if the diff is 3.25 or .... and i can have it just from E30's ?
    5-what about wiring ?
6-is this motor better thank m20 ? and the car can handel his power ?
    thanks for advices .

        Dude just search.
Theres a whole subforum for 24v swaps. Theres also plenty of project threads to look through.
There's so much info available which is why no one wants to answer your questions.
I would but I havent done a swap so I'd just be BS'ing from what i've seen.

          I've done m50NV into my 1990 e30

1- how hard it is , and what problems i will face ? - on the scale from 1 to 10 I would say, 7. The biggest problem I faced was exhaust work.
2- i want to buy the motor from a junk yard , so how i will know if the motor is in a good condition or no ? - I purchased e34 525i (rear ended) for $600. I would not trust junk yard engines much, especially if you can't test them
3- how to know if it is vanos or non vanos - vanos has a bump in front on the valve cover, NV doesn't
4- how to know if the diff is 3.25 or .... and i can have it just from E30's ? use e30 diff... 3.73 with G260, 3.25 with G250 or ZF
5-what about wiring ? - I made my own adapter, there is plenty of info how to do it.
6-is this motor better thank m20 ? and the car can handel his power ? - its better for sure, but for some people its not worth putting m50 because they can't do it themselves, and have to pay mechanic to do it
It will cost a lot for the amount of power your gaining. But if you can do everything yourself, source all needed components first, then it can be almost free and a fun summer project. At least thats how it was for me. Hope this helps you a little. Good luck.
