    e30 s52 swap

got a s52 motor out of a 97 m3. is this considered the same as the m50 motor and trans swap (engine mounts/transmission mounts)?

No, you first have to convert it to OBD1

yea, I was lucky. the guy who owned the car convereted the intake to OBD1 making it easier for me and should work.

Its not just the intake, electrical also needs to be switched over along with other little things

Wrong, only '95 3.0L motors were OBD-1. OBD-2 began for almost all cars in '96.

As mentioned, the intake manifold is only part of the conversion. The wiring harness, ECU are needed as well as a couple other pieces (anyone else?). If you want to run oil temperature, it's a good idea to get an OBD-1 M3 harness, otherwise a 325/525 harness is just as well.

              Thanks!

I have to read up on that. Right now I have motor, trans and ECU out of a 97 m3.

stu is correct. you will need to convert the s52b32 to obd1. you can use parts off the 95m3 or 93-95 325. you will need the wiring harness (inlcluding all sensors like cps, knock sensors....blah blah blah), cps crank pulley w/ teeth (some s52s still have them), ecu (ending 413), intake manifold, injectors, tbody, hfm, coolant pipe adaptor (obd2 metal one is superior but doesnt fit past obd1 intake support brakcets). modified valve cover breather hose and dipstick. (s52 has different dipstick tube and wont fit. )

you can use the dual temp switch off the obd2 engine (in lieu of tapping another port in the head). the obd1 electronics use two single sensors and the obd2 uses one dual sensor. use the obd2 sensor with the obd2 plug and the wires can be spliced onto the obd1 harness.

                  cheers, jason

the thing about splicing the wires is i donno if it'll give the correct voltage for the e30 dash temp gauge to work properly.
