Can You Powdercoat an M50 Oil Filter Housing?

Is there any plastic or anything inside of it that would melt when exposed to 300-350F to cure the powder?

I had a look at the housing and the ETK drawings but I couldn't really tell to the point where I was comfortable trying it. I also browsed through the 24v engine bay picture thread and saw alot of powdercoated caps for the housing but no housings.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

oil housing is an aluminum item, there is no thermostat on non WBS ITB model engines, so no worries about messing him up from the baking via powdercoating.

rubber seals need replacement when item is removed, so go ahead and make it Pretty!!!
    OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Cool, thanks. I figured with 200+F oil running through it, it should be okay.

You may melt the non return valve but you gotta think about it, the oil gets ~250F.

Why not just soda blast it clean? I'm assuming you want to do this for aesthetics.

ide be worried about the media getting into the housing passages and then to the motor when you put it back on the car....

They have to media blast it in order to properly powdercoat it anyway. Followed by 30minutes of baking to sweat out any impurities. One of the added benefits to powdercoating on top of media blasting is that it makes it a ton easier to clean afterwards.
