    what in the world.....

....is the problem here? I have an s50 in my e30 that runs like shit. I have no idea what it could be. It seems like its running on 30% of its power. If you floor it....it will sputter and go no where and the car runs better with the mass air flow meter unplugged. If it's plugged in the car will die without giving it gas. Any suggestions? THanks.

Your MAF is probably toast. If you have a bentley it explains how to test the voltage signal coming from it.

or you have a fatty vac. leak... check all of your vac lines. This happened to me the first time i got my car up and running- the tube that goes from the ICV to the intake manifold wasnt completely sealed. Also check to make sure that the MAF is oriented the right way (arrow pointing toward the back of the car). If it is a vac. leak, get it fixed, disconnect the maf, let the car settle with it's idle state (assuming it wont keep a constant idle) then once it does settle- connect the maf. I rewired my car twice and had to do this both times for whatever reason...

                Update......
                1. ECU was fine.
                2. Coils fine.
                3. MAF meter fine.
                4. Smoke test, no vac leaks.

                What's next?

                  I'd check fuel pressure.
