    Performance figures for swapped E30's?

I'm trying to do as much research as possible on M50 and S50 swaps before biting the bullet and jumping into a new project. It seems that a lot of people are doing these swaps, but I'm not sure if many completed ones are driving around. Does anyone know performance figures for M50 or preferibly, S50 swappes E30's? Any 0-60 or 1/4 miles times? Dynos?

Everyone and their mother has done the M50 swap. M50: 192 horses S50: 250hp??

M50 will run you around a 15 flat on the 1/4 mile.

People also drop in M52/S52s after converting to OBD1.

Just read the 44 page DOHC thread at the top of this section.

      Chipped non-vanos m50. I can run a low 6-second 0-60.

A easier comparison would be rolling acceleration times. 50-80 in 5.1s.

Although not word-for-word, I have read through the DOHC guide pretty thoroughly; I understand that people are doing other swaps, but I likened the S50 due to its OBDI compatability. That's why I'm very interested in these engines specifically. However, how easy/costly is the OBDII-OBDI conversion?

          Very costly. Very not easy.

Properly setup 3.0/3.2's will be on par with E46 M3's. E36 M3's vanish like a fart in the wind

              I'm hoping a properly sorted M52 2.8L swap (w/ 260 & 4.10 gears) will be comparable to a 996 3.6L up to about 100mph :D Probably a bit optimistic.....

Stu, do you have any experience running w/ 996s?

On that note I just picked up (almost) all of my parts for my 318iS 6 cyl swap

Toad, funny you mention it. Last semester, crusing down a backroad, a blue 996 pulled behind. I took a right at a stoplight, on a main, 4-lane road. He pulled out behind me, I waited in the right lane in 1st gear...he flicked the signal and went for the left lane, watching in teh side mirror his car squated..hammered down, 7000, 7000, 7000...watching his ass in the cup mirror the whole time, I was expecting him to complete his pass (signal still on)..didn't happen, held him off through slightly into 4th (90 or so). My car was dirty as fuck, looking like shit. It felt absolutely awesome.

LOL, sounds like one of those priceless E30 24v moments I hear about :) Especially w/ a dirty ol' E30 against a late model porsche

The whole inspiration of this swap was to see how close I could hang with my mom's 2003 996 3.6L carrera. Hopefully the 4.10 with a Getrag will keep the 318 competitive up to about 90. Speeds above 140..... that's another project ;)

Just got back from CMP (Carolina Motorsports Park) for a trackday, running with experienced solo drivers, i had no problem with the 930 turbos, 993's and 996's (carerras), including one particularly badass 993. Ran a E36 Cmod car on the backstraight (3.2obd1, 262whp), 318 was pinned to his bumper. i backed off early because of the brakes (or lack of). it's been a hell of a day

                          I have a euro 3.0

I raced a porsche targa , 996 I think, I won. Almost ran into the guys bumper I was gaining so fast,

                          I have also gotten low 13s 1/4mile and mid 8 1/8mile
