Interested in hearing how much money and time different people with different levels of mechanical inclination invested in their various M/S series swaps. How much did you spend? And if anything, what would you do differently?

So far I've had the donor car for around 3 months and just got started on it yesterday. And I'm out the price of the car, $750.00. All the gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, blah blah blah is yet to be bought. But I can bet I'll spend a total of $1000.00 on parts.
Oh and I can't forget the knuckle buster I gave myself today...OUCH. Still hurts.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

If I werent such an idiot, and the wiring hadn't taken me so long to figure out, I probably would have been about a week and a half to do the swap with no prior mechanical experience aside from chaning oil and doing brakes. I did everything myself.
I kept chasing a problem of my car not starting, when it really just came down to two wires being hooked to the wrong things.

Found mine on Craiglist for $725.00. It was the whole car, auto, had been in a wreck. Runs smooth.

I was going to sell the car and spend about 10K on a fitting replacement. When I looked around, there was nothing that could quite compare to a 280+hp RWD E30. Especially knowing how well built they are. My E30 was also a great candidate because it was already in outstanding shape, and needed nothing except a stronger heart.
My S50:
Bored .040 over/balanced
10.5:1+ compression
CNC ported intake
Cams
Euro HFM/21.5/AA chip
VPD pulleys
2.5" full exhaust w/ no cat
I had a fun little freeway pull friday night with a coworkers 04 Lightning. Pulley, heat exchanger,Diablo chip,Tbody, full exhaust on race gas. I slowly but instantly started pulling away 'till we shut down at about a buck twenty with me up about a car and a half. I'd say 8K well spent!

About 8months on building the motor alone (school/work/my dads schedule), and about 3 months on the install/sorting. I spent $3140 in parts, that's starting with just a bare M50 block, sourcing M3 bottomend parts, a head, M3 cams/valvetrain, and all the accessories and wiring harness. It was a bitch doing it this way, finding each and every piece.
If I did it again I would have spent the money for a 3.2 crank
