I currently have the m50 in my car but a friend of mine has a damaged s50 for sale. My plan is if the motor is worth saving, swap it in, if it isn't, use the fresh head and cams and put them in my m50. My question is, because i can't find any information on the matter, will i need to swap over to the s50 wiring harness or is any of it the same? any other information about this process would be greatly appreciated , thank you!

What year is your m50? Unless your m50 is non-Vanos it is identical.

When I did my S50 swap,I used a M50 wiring harness from my 95 325 because it was cleaner..no problem..in fact I used a lot of parts from the m50NASA

If the m50 is a vanos m50 everything is exactly the same minus the chip within the ecu.

Sorry , it is non vanos. I believe i need a red label ecu and will need to swap over to a vanos wiring harness, correct? and i want to use the m50 injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds?Comment

If / when you need the parts, I have an E36 Vanos Wiring harness, Red Label ECU, M50 Injectors, and M50 Manifold for sale.
