    ZF shift pin tools

    Any fellow r3vers have the ZF shift pin tools that they would kindly rent out? I'm looking to do this pretty soon, I have all the parts and I'd prefer to use the correct drift tools for the job.

        I wish I would know you had a set Dave. I managed to replace reverse and 5th gear shift pins using a few ghetto fabulous methods...

          haha first time i did them i did the same and after that disaster got a set of the drifts haha.

              I did mine in the car....without special tools. ugh. I created a few new swear words in the process.

                    it would have been less hassle to unbolt both subframes, trans, drive line, diff and all suspension and lift the car body up than to do it in the car. It involved bent nose pliers and a small screwdriver to pull the sleeve out, two broken thumb nails and various socket sizes to tap the new sleeve in. Trying to put the circlip in while pushing at a funky angle under the car ain't fun!!! I did it but next time I will drop the trans, hopefully this won't need to happen. It is certainly too much trouble to do without removing and takes a lot of time.

                    If you have a zf trans and you are thinking of throwing it in, do yourself a favor and replace the $14 worth of parts before bolting the trans up. Not changing the springs/sleeves is like not changing a rear main seal when throwing a used engine in. Preventative.
