    Calling M/S5x guys

For those of you with these motors, can I see some pics of how you've rigged up a cold air box? I know Lucas and a couple other companies sell shields, but those are for the small radiators with the built-in tank...I need pics of motors with the radiator tank chillin next to the air filter.

ill go against the grain here and say i think a cold air intake is a joke for the street. unless youre a hardcore racer trying to eek out every ounce of horsepower you dont need 1. i havent had 1 in 3 years and i have no problems smoking almost anything i come up against.

if you want to make one its pretty easy with some sheet pvc. i made one back in the day out of stainless but removed it when the s52 went in. i just made multiple cardboard templates and traced them onto thin stainless. plastic is better as it doesnt conduct heat according to internet lore, but again i think its kinda rediculous. sometimes ideas take on a life of their own after its been regurgitated on message boards a million times

You'd be surpised how fast engine bays get heat soaked in 110ยบ, once they heat up, they take along while to cool off.

If I wasn't selling my car, it would be next on the list.

I'll go to home depot and we could try to make something uglier then sin at the next euro meet?

Nice, I wondered what people did other then a cone filter or cutting up the E36 air box like the Zionsville CD shows.

C ///M thats a clean looking engine bay. CF valve cover and slick intake.

C///M, your car is hot, ever think about painting your wheel centers Bronzit? Sorry for going ot here...

Also about the airbox, Turner recommends at least 4 inches of straight pipe between the HFM and the filter for the best results. Those of us running the overflow tank on the drivers side, and in my case, a larger radiator, things get a little crowded.

                            best picture I could find...

I was able to use the stock E36 box, I routed a dryer "hose" to the front of the radiator and pointed it straight at the grill so it would have sucked in the freshest air available.
