Questions about wiring (bought a harness)

So, about a year ago I got this harness and never got around to getting my car far enough to need wiring. Well it is now that time, and it seems as though some people have had some shady experiences with his adapter.

I just took it apart to check it out (not going to lie, I have yet to do this even after a year), and I do see what I could definitely say is some shady wiring (cut wires, pins leading to nothing etc).

So I guess my question is where should I go from here? Maybe get the pin out and test for continuity and all that good stuff? Possibly just rewire the adapter myself?

    Here are pictures of it:

I was also wondering about two loose wires on the oil level sensor part. There is an extra 12V power line (labeled 12v) coming out of the main harness and then a second black line coming out at the level sensor connector (possibly ground?). You can see both of these wires in the third picture.

Let me know what you think.

Your thread actually inspired me to look at my wiring . I do want to see what I can do with what I have already though before purchasing a brand new unit! Though... seeing that time is an issue for me, I might go that route!

;) Good luck! As little business sense it makes for me, i like when people sit down and take the time to do a good job wiring it themselves, helps with troubleshooting and 32423 other things on their own swap. If it wouldnt kill me ide release my wiring diagrams for the world to use :D
